As many of you will know, the person who co-founded and wrote this blog with me was Kate Sutton, in fact it was her idea after we chatted one day about how we’d both love somewhere else to write about our travelling adventures. We invited Jen (Love Chic Living) to join us, brainstormed ideas and names and came up with this blog We Blog Travel. Kate whilst I knew her, always worked really hard in social media management as well as blogging at her main site, WitWitWoo, which is a candid, funny and thought-provoking blog that was loved by many. She didn’t hold back, and was prepared to write about anything that she considered important. I really loved her for that.
Sadly Kate (47) passed away very unexpectedly a couple of months ago. She was a fantastic friend to me, and so many others. An amazing mum to two fab boys Ben and Dexter. I really felt now was the point when I needed to write something on here, I didn’t initially, as it still felt really raw.
Kate and I met back in 2012 at a Harry Potter themed event, in central London, filled to the rafters with celebs, witches and wizards, and even an owl. I’ll never forget seeing Dexter’s (her youngest som) silhouette (he had a very impressive combed out fro that day) when they were acting out a scene from a puppet show. We and the other bloggers and celebs drank the place dry…twice, it really was a crazy day!
It was there that our friendship began, following this we went on four trips away with one another to France, Italy and Corsica. We once were literally like ships that passed in the night, as Kate took over my cabin onboard Liberty of the Seas on a cruise in the Med with The Royal Caribbean. We feasted at Choccywoccydoodah together, shared a decadent bottle of fizz at Liberty’s to celebrate Kate’s 45th birthday. More recently visited Wimbledon (which we both love) for the first time together. Kate and I were opposites in many ways, and I think that’s maybe why it worked so well? Looking back we shared so many things, definitely shared a few experiences with men, but it was always our love of travel and being a mum that bound us.
I’ve thought long and hard about what to do with We Blog Travel. Which is hard, as sometimes I can’t even believe she’s no longer here. It’s now just me who blogs at We Blog Travel, so would I be able to continue it on my own? I think and hope that Kate would want me to carry on, but it will mean that I may need to tweek a few things, so please bare with me as I do this. My next post, will be one where some of my fellow travel and lifestyle bloggers will share a few of their memories of Kate.
Thank you Kate for everything, for the funny times, for the tears and for being you.
What a beautiful post Amanda. Thank you for writing it. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must have been as I know you are Kate were very close.
I think of Kate as the travel buddy you want on every trip. I always thought she would be able to charm her way out of a sticky situation or find the best bar in town.
She really has a left a huge hole in so many lives.
Sending hugs to you today and a big virtual hug
Lots of love…a lovely tribute x

Beautiful post & sending so much love xx
A beautiful tribute to an amazing lady. It still doesn’t ring true that Kate has actually gone, I still keep expecting to read another shockingly terrible chat up line from the dating sites.
I remember when you ladies were starting We Blog Travel and Kate was so proud to give me one of her new business cards. You will make her proud Xx
I still can’t believe Kate is gone – she really was so full of life and such a big personality.
This post is a lovely tribute at a time when losing a close friend is so raw. Sending you love and best wishes Amanda.
xx

Such a lovely post, Amanda. I met Kate on a few occasions and we always laughed so much. She was always so kind to people and so giving, which is why she has so many friends and admirers xx
What a great tribute to your friend Kate. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds like she was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
I’m so glad to hear you’ll be continuing the blog as it sounds like it’s what she would have wanted.
