Having just returned from Devon last weekend, I am feeling pampered, refreshed and revived after a two night break in a beautiful country home – Stowford Manor in Ivybridge, Devon.
I was staying in this amazing home, thanks to Blue Chip Holidays who have launched a new way of having a self catering holiday in their properties. This is something I just know you are going to want to try, so let me explain.
A brand new bespoke concierge service aptly titled ‘The Blue Chip Experience‘ is going to provide unique adventures for you whilst you stay. It will take the stress out of organising and finding activities that the whole family will enjoy.
Now to give you an idea of how this would work, we chatted to the people involved in the concierge service, and I’ve got to say this is something that we would definitely use and a family, or group of friends taking a break. To give you an example, if you are a family that loves surfing, they could not only provide you with the boards, and the fish and chips that you can eat on the beach once you’ve worked up an appetite in those waves. They even take you to where those boards were made, to give you a real insight into the surfing world.
Fancy something a little more crafty? Well how about foraging for shells on the beach followed by a jewellery making workshop back at your holiday home, making something you would always treasure! A private yacht to a secluded beach, where you can enjoy a leisurely picnic. Of course more and more we are taking multi generational holidays, so there is nothing to say you all enjoy different experiences during the day, and then meet up in the evening to enjoy a beautiful meal cooked for your very own private chef. Sounds blissful doesn’t it!
We experienced some of these kinds of activities first hand, as we went Horse riding on Dartmoor National Park, something I haven’t ever done before, it was simply amazing! I’ll be sharing more about that on my blog next week. We also tried a private chef that came to our home for the evening, and tantalised us with beautifully cooked dishes. He even cleared and did the dishes, now THAT’S service!
Incredibly memorable was the cooking demonstration from an amazing chef from The Pickle Shack, a local Devon restaurant, who created special dishes for us to enjoy, including a gorgeous vegetarian menu cooked just for me!
The beauty of a holiday like this, is it takes all of the effort of planning and sourcing things out of the equation. You just get to enjoy the pleasurable bit, which is choosing what you would like to do. Usually when you are away, you don’t know the area where you are staying. With Blue Chip Holidays, they use their local contacts and knowledge (after all they are the experts) as they source adventures that are completely designed with you, the guest in mind.
I can’t write this post, without mentioning the place that we stayed. I have stayed in very lovely self catering places before, but I can honestly say, even though the house was large, and beautiful and quite impressively posh, I have never felt so ‘at home’ whilst I was away. When I woke up each morning, I actually felt like I was at home, the beds were so incredibly comfortable. Every detail had been thought of, and I would stay again in a heart beat.
