A good friend of mine, a fellow travel blogger, Alice from Project Wanderlust, is off to America soon with her family on our major eight-week trip. They will be visiting New York, Washington DC, New Jersey, Vegas, LA … to name a few places. I’m really excited for her … and also just a little bit jealous.
I’ve never been to America. It’s been on the top of my bucket list for years, particularly New York, but I’ve just never got round to going. I’ve even managed to send my eldest son twice, and so I definitely need to put a plan in action – I can’t have him go and not me!
I wondered whether I had just missed the boat or whether America still had a lot to offer me, and so I started to do some research. I came across the Trek America website and watched the video that is on their homepage. Talk about adventure! In fact, their tagline is ‘Find your adventure,’ and that’s exactly what I intend to do.
Trek America offer every type of tour of North America that you can imagine – from mini adventures of three or four day tours, to breaks of three weeks plus. The trouble is, I just can’t decide what I want to do more! I hear wonderful things about visiting New York in November, but equally I like the idea of visiting Boston where an old university friend now lives. I think of Seattle every morning when I watch Frasier on TV, and I have always had a soft spot for a city that rains as much as England!
There is the beach life of California, the bright lights of Vegas and the sheer wonder of the Grand Canyon. Decisions, decisions.
But I do you know this. One day, somehow, America will be ticked off my bucket list, hopefully more than once, and I cannot wait.
