Do you have a bucket list of must-see places you long to visit? I’ve often dreamed of taking an adventure to see some of the wonders of the world, both Ancient and New. It’s not just wonders of the world that have enticed me, anything with history, culture and a slice of mythical magic also draws me in, so I thought I’d share my must-see places of the moment. Are they on your list?
Machu Picchu
I’m not much of a walker, but given the chance I would love to walk the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. There’s something magical and mystical about the ruins that has always fascinated me. Encounters Travel have a great Machu Picchu tour that also takes in Ballestas Islands, Colca Canyon and the Oasis of Huacachina, which would be a truly memorable trip. Sign me up.
Terracotta Army:
Ever since I was small I’ve wanted to visit the Terracotta army in China. Discovered by accident in 1974 when local farmers digging a well broke into a pit containing 6000 life size terracotta figures, it is now regarded as the 8th Wonder of the Ancient World. Several more pit discoveries were made over the following years, and to date there are over 8000 figures. A childhood book I had detailed the discovery and I have always dreamed of visiting and seeing it for myself. Is this something that fascinates you?
Gulfoss Falls, Iceland:
I have a bit of thing about water. I just love it. The sounds, the smells and the drama. This is one of the most dramatic views in Iceland; Gulfoss Falls is a spectacular sight and a stunning natural wonder of the world. Recently a blogger friend, Penny from A Residence took a memorable trip to Iceland, and whilst it’s never been on my bucket list, my children are now very keen to go. If this is the kind of scenery that awaits me, then I’m all in.
Are there any spectacles of the world that you long to visit?

I was lucky enough to see some of the terracotta army when it was on loan to the British Museum. It was an awesome sight.
